SHEN Beauty Opens in Brooklyn for Discovering Emerging Beauty Brands
A modern beauty boutique in Brooklyn, New York offers a laid-back, elegant and androgynous environment for discovering new beauty brands.
In the heart of New York?s arguably most creative and vibrant borough, SHEN Beauty recently opened the doors to its new location, inviting beauty lovers and wellness seekers to discover a plethora of under-the-radar brands curated by founder Jessica Richards. The 1550-square-foot space was designed by retail design and branding studio Mythology (formerly Partners & Spade), who chose to use sustainable plywood as the material of choice for creating a laid-back, elegant and androgynous environment.
The store is split into three sections: the left wall offers a self-guided search for products with hand-written recommendations from Jessica herself, the middle space features islands for exploration and discovery, and the right wall is reserved for treatments. For design aficionados with a keen eye, you?ll notice modern furnishings punctuate the interiors, like Lindsey Adelman sconces and purposes stools by Thonet from the 1950s. Murals by artist Petra Börner greet shoppers as they walk through the doors.
In light of COVID-19, safety precautions have been implemented to ensure the safety of shoppers and employees, including a hospital grade air filtration system, a temperature checking system in the ceiling, and a custom tester/sample tray reminiscent of a painter’s palette for individuals to try out samples.
