Alejandra Gandía-Blasco's Iris collection of outdoor tables features printed glass tops inspired by the colors of sunrises + sunsets.
If you?ve ever watched a sunset dip below the horizon or woken up early to catch the sunrise, you know firsthand just how spectacular the view can be. The ethereal golden light at these hours seems to be made of infinite colors harmoniously blending together, creating an ephemeral moment that is hard to convey through anything other than a painting or a photo. It is these observations that inspired designer Alejandra Gandía-Blasco in creating the Iris collection for Mediterranean outdoor furniture brand GANDIABLACO. The tabletop designs are not imagined from Gandía-Blasco?s memories but are photographs captured by the designer herself. ?It is a type of experimental work with natural light and the refraction it creates when photographed with a phone,? explains the designer. ?Through this, I obtain infinite nuances of color and varied compositions depending on the exact moment when I capture the light, among many other factors.?
