Huge Optical Illusion in Carcassonne

Since this spring and untile September 2018, the Carcassonne castle will be decorated with a funny optical illusion composed of yellow circular lines decorating the walls of the fortress. The effect is totally unexpected as it mixes ancient architecture with modern painting. The artwork has been named “Concentric Concentric” and it is an idea of Felice Varini, who was commissioned by the National Monuments Center to celebrate the entry of Carcassonne among UNESCO’s protected treasures.
