Window Is a Roller Shade of Simulated Sunlight
A portable lamp that mimics the soft glow of sunlight through a window with an ingenious roller shade pull-down design.
The Window portable lamp is an imaginative portable lighting concept designed by Siyu Lou that’s proposed by way of crowdsourcing design platform, Allaocacoc’s DesignNest. Combining the portable form factor of a flashlight with the accessibility and utility of a roller shade, the Window is imagined as a multi-use light for the floor, wall, or across any surface.
Equipped with three levels of brightness, the anywhere you go light is intended to mimic the presence of sunlight illuminating through a window. With seasonal affective disorder affecting more than 3 million sufferers each year, doctors often prescribe light therapy to counteract the symptoms of fatigue and depression caused by this serious mood change. Minus a few outliers, readily available lighting designed for SAD can be depressing in itself. The Window design in its current iteration is obviously too dim ? more atmospheric than therapeutic. But perhaps with the development of thinner and brighter OLEDs on the horizon, the sunshine-hungry could one day seek respite from the gloomy humdrums with their own artificial light window with a simple pull.
