This Limited Edition Beosound 1 Is Designed to Evoke the New York Skyline
The Danish lifestyle technicians at Bang & Olufsen take their mastery of aluminum to craft a Beosound 1 that evokes NYC skyscrapers.
Bang & Olufsen’s conical aluminum Beosound 1 has all appearances of a contemporary art sculpture, but even more so in its latest iteration, the New York Edition. Revealed last month, the wireless floor or table speaker has been given an ombre finish, fading from piano black to natural aluminum in a gradation of color intended to evoke New York City?s skyscrapers.
Although merely an aesthetic revamp with all other specifications remaining the same, the coloration of this limited edition variant is a technical achievement, requiring a patent-pending process transforming milled aluminum through the act of polishing and anodizing the surface ? an electrochemical treatment that forms a durable oxide on the surface of the material ? before B&O technicians mechanically fine tune each individual speaker cone into its Gotham-themed color gradient finish.
The 360-degree tower output remains the same, alongside Google Assistant integration and Chromecast built-in, Apple AirPlay 2, and Bluetooth streaming.
Why a cone" Just like the original, the New York Edition features a closed aluminum cabinet engineered to provide the optimal acoustic properties related directly to aluminum’s stiffness. Without joints and corners distortion is further eliminated.
The New York Edition of the Beosound 1 will be available in lim...
