Ink Series: A Pair of Jewelry Boxes by Mario Tsai for Mx object
A pair of minimalist jewelry boxes made from ink stone, a material typically known for its use in calligraphy.
Ink stone is most commonly associated with Chinese calligraphy and painting, dating back thousands of years. Due to its smooth, natural texture, designer Mario Tsai selected it as his material of choice when designing a pair of jewelry boxes, named Ink, for Mx object.
The elongated boxes have two lid options ? one with a slender handle and one with a slot ? both of which add a visually dynamic element.
Since ink stone is quite delicate, each box is cut on a CNC machine and then polished by hand.
The Ink box with the slot allows jewelry like rings or bracelets to rest when they’re not being worn.
