Hyphen Modular Lighting Collection Unites Two Opposing Materials
d'Armes newest lighting collection ? Hyphen ? is modular in nature, with three pieces making up the versatile series of designs.
Here’s a fresh take on modular lighting from Quebec-based lighting brand d’Armes ? Hyphen. Shared for the first time during this year’s ICFF, the collection is made up of three pieces: the Hyphen Pendant, the Hyphen Table Simple, and the Hyphen Table Double. While the resemblance to the type character is clear, its name is derived from the ancient Greek ??’ ?? (huph’ hén). In this case, it stands for the union of two opposites into one. Hyphen lighting exhibits this through the use of warm, soft, sensitive porcelain, and cold, strong, brilliant steel.
“With Hyphen, and our work at large, we aim to design and manufacture lights that bring uniqueness to an environment, create an emotion, enhance a decor, and elicit curiosity,” says designer Alexandre Joncas. “Hyphen is unique in its form, in its production process of artistic collaboration, and in its use of porcelain and molding.”
The hallmark curved luminaires can be put to use hanging or standing. When hanging, two cylindrical bodies are joined with a pivot that allows for multiple light positions and orientations.
