Tassels and trimmings seem to have disappeared from interiors today; trends are crisper, simpler and if a detail is to be seen it’s more like a piping. The layered approach, where every fabric was enhanced with a complimentary passementarie, is a thing of the past. I don’t have these types of ornamentation in our home anymore and in some ways I am sad about that. I think detail and intricacy makes for a beautiful interior. In the French countryside, where the days are bright and the temperatures high, rooms are happier when left simple and oasis like as a place to retreat. Heavily clad windows and ornamental trimmings don’t sit so well here.

Drop earrings are one of my first go-to places when dressing up or when trying to change a look with the minimum of effort.
