Drought: A Bronze Chair Created Using a Natural Dehydrating Process
Drought is a bronze chair that forms over time and explores a natural dehydrating process.
Tokyo-based Hokuto Ando and Toshiya Hayashi make up the design studio we+ and their latest project, Drought, explores a natural dehydrating process. Drought is a bronze chair that forms over time and through a lack of moisture by using a combination of wax and a super absorbent resin. While in the original mold, the mixture dries and shrinks, leaving behind the open, hole-filled texture you see in the finished chair.
Drought debuted at Gallery Rossana Orlandi in Milan Design Week 2017.
