Brass Rail Shelving by Ryan Taylor for Object/Interface
A modular shelving unit made from sapele wood and unfinished brass, both of which age beautifully over time.
Besides making a statement, the Brass Rail Shelving is made to display all of your stuff, from knick knacks to books and everything in between. Toronto-based Ryan Taylor designed the unit for Object/Interface with solid sapele shelves that can hold up to 100lbs each, including those heavy books you own.
Taylor chose sapele wood, which falls into the mahogany family, because it doesn’t fade over time – instead it becomes richer. Paired with the 27″ wide shelves are the unfinished brass components that support them. And like the wood, the brass will patina and change with age.
The shelves are made for easy assembly and can be reconfigured anytime into 21 positions in 4″ increments. They sit 3/4″ away from the walls so all of your cables can neatly run behind them and there are adjustable feet in case your floors aren’t level.
