BLEND Uses Different Sawing Techniques for a New Perspective on Wood
A three-piece collection that benefits from sawing techniques and wood inlay to create a geometric patchwork effect with the wood.
In his latest project, Dutch designer Ward Wijnant explores sawing techniques resulting in geometric patchworks that make the wood grains pop. Despite using just one tree, the finished designs in the BLEND collection benefit from sawing the tree in two different ways using quarter sawing and plain sawing techniques. To top it off, Wijnant plays around with inlays and grain direction, and finally, vibrant color stains to elevate the three-piece series, which includes two lamps and a storage cabinet.
