Stained glass is so interesting to me. I toured a really stunning Basilica a few years ago with the most incredible stained glass. The guide explained that the stained glass wasn’t just for beauty but that each window told a different story in hopes that it would inspire anyone who walked into the sanctuary. The time and artistry behind each window was breathtaking. It gave me a newfound appreciation for an art form that I had mostly forgotten about. When I think of stained glass, I tend to picture centuries-old cathedrals or Tiffany lamps, but the medium has a place in modern-day design. A few years ago, Byrony Lane, an artist living in Cornwall, England, left her career as a graphic designer to retrain as a glass artist. She works from her studio in the coastal town of Falmouth. Byrony’s graphic design background has merged beautifully with her glass work. Her pieces are bright and minimal. Most of Byrony’s works depict botanical, landscape and abstract designs. The way her pieces illuminate and reflect when light streams through is captivating and makes me want to have them in my home to enjoy daily. –Lauren
