Some of you might know that we’re active landlords to two units, both our former condo and the garden unit in our current home. We generally live by the rule that no news is good news when it comes to our tenants, but every now and then, they’ll ring us up for help, and we’ll pop over to help them with a small repair or switch out specialty bulbs. When we stop by, we always make it a point to check the air filters in their furnace closets, swapping in a fresh filter every 3 months. You know, when we remember. It would be a rare occurrence to have the right size on hand, and so we check the time to see if we can squeeze in a 30 minute errand to the hardware store. While we’re at the store, we’ll pick up the other items we need – an extra paintbrush, a new tape measure and more drywall screws. Sometimes we even remember to pick up that new furnace filter, too.
