One of the things I find most fascinating about trends these days is the way they seem to affect not just one creative community, but several. What’s popular in interiors often pops up in food (and vice versa) and what happens in fashion finds its way into beauty and even homes. I took a look at our 10 top Instagram hashtag photos of all time. These colorful photos represent over 300,000 likes and thousands of comments and they told me a lot about what our community is drawn to and how those styles, colors and trends connect to interiors as well. So today I’m playing matchmaker and pairing up your favorite Instagram photos of all time (from our DS challenge feeds) with interiors that feel like their doppelgängers. From ombre faded carrots (matched with an ombre faded children’s room) to floral patterns and soft pinks galore, these photos remind me how powerful design can be across such a wide range of practices. —Grace
Image above: @eastolivia ‘s photo of an amazing balloon installation by @geronimo has the same jubilant and hyper-colorful spirit of Amina’s LA loft.

Image above: The colorful ombre food photos of @wrightkitchen remind me of one of my favorite interiors: Joy Thigpen’s daughter’s bedroom.
Image above: The incredible leaf pattern in this moth photo by @rizkiw_ reminds me of the patterned wallpaper in Celine and Justin’s MCM home.

Image above: The two-toned green and pink walls of this beautiful Swedish home remind me of this beloved flat lay photo that @kmsalvagedesign shared in #dspink

Image above: These beautiful clouds that @shannonrusch posted in #dslooking immediately reminded me of one of my favorite DS home tour moments from Nicolette Camille’s Brooklyn home. A wall of cloud photos!

Image above: @erinlightfeather ‘s beautiful floral envelopes look just like the delicate rose patterned wallpaper in Joyce DeLang’s home.

Image above: @bespokeglass’ copper and green fish scale tiles take me back to one of my favorite interiors: Genevieve Gorder’s bathroom (since redone) from Design*Sponge at Home.

Image above: The lush floral wallpaper of Stony Ford’s upstate New York bedroom has the same lushness of @skinny_wolf and @katiemarxflowers ‘ amazing floral photo from #dsfloral

Image above: @annstreetstudio ‘s stunning photo of swans is echoed in the playful black, white, and red bathroom of this quirky Kentucky home.

Image above: Last but not least, a design trend for those with apiary interests. The sweet bee patterned walls in this Nashville home echo one of the most popular images we’ve ever shared, a gol...
