House Tour | k YODER design
Today we take a trip to Gladwyne, Pennsylvania to a midcentury-modern home built by one of Philadelphia?s most notable architects Vincent G. Kling. The Smith Residence was built in 1959 and put for sale in 2013 as a teardown on a large, tree-lined property. Along came k YODER design, a leading architecture and interiors firm known for updating classic modern architecture.
Using Kling?s original 1959 drawings and letters between him and the Smith family, k YODER design was able to design the kitchen according to the original floor plan. Everything from the gorgeous windows to the intricate stonework were taken into account for the remodel to blend modern with historical.
The cabinetry aligns perfectly with the original floor plan, yet updated with clean lines and modern additions including the bright aluminum backsplash and new Nougat countertops.
New to the space is an opening into the family room, built within the original bays to preserve the beautiful lines and history of the home. We love this peek into the past?and into the family room.
Natural is the new modern! From the natural light to the stone walls and dark rustic wood beams, we can learn a thing or two from k YODER design?s simplicity. Take a look at the next room, the bedroom!
Who needs doors! With a design so stunning, there?s no need to hide the bedroom. k YODER design continued the organic, natural theme into the bed and bath with a ribbon of windows and wood paneling.
