My mom is someone who I always turn to for all things related to books. She’s read just about any and every book I can think of and she certainly gave me my love of books from a very early age, spending any extra money she had on the latest titles for my brother and me. I grew up in a home filled with wall-to-wall bookshelves; books were found in every room. My mom, a writer, would work all day, just to come home and write late into the night after I had fallen asleep. I began collecting children’s books in college, adding to the books I had saved from my childhood. My five-year-old son is now carrying on the tradition with his own floor-to-ceiling bookshelf, filled with titles from my youth and beyond. It only seemed fitting to ask my mom some of her favorite titles when rounding up this gift guide. She helped with a few novels from the fiction portion, and I can’t wait to read her selections. I rounded up these reading materials into a few different categories — fiction and nonfiction, magazines, travel, cookbooks, art, interiors, design, just plain fun books, and children’s and teen books. I hope you will find some new titles here, and a little something for ever...
