The VLA26 Vega Chair Finally Has Its Day in the Sun
Vilhelm Lauritzen's VLA26 Vega Chair ? originally designed in 1956 for a concert venue ? has recently been re-released in a collaboration with Carl Hansen & Sons.

It was originally designed in 1956 for use at the Vega concert venue (formerly Folkets Hus) in Vesterbro, Copenhagen. In fact, Lauritzen ended up designing nearly the entirety of the Vega’s interior space, including furniture, wood panels, chandeliers, door handles, sockets, and more. It was the project of a lifetime, but it’s the Vega Chair that won’t be left to history.
After its debut, the Vega sadly never went into production to reach a wider audience. VLA reached out to the furniture maker a few years prior to Lauritzen?s 100th anniversary in 2022 so that the launch could coincide with the celebration. And now in 2024, the Vega Chair is launching a new iteration with a chrome-plated steel frame.
“Until now, these were only produced for the buildings for which they were intended, and we are proud to take part in this celebration by collaborating on the launch of the Vega Chair,” says Knud Erik Hansen, CEO of Carl Hansen & Søn.
