Not all the time, but it is the perfect swap.

Lace-up boots and I go way back – all the way to 1995 – when I found my first and most loved pair in France. To me they were perfect and I remember thinking how fabulous. They were the right amount of lace-up with a small and slightly elevated platform in black; I wore them every day and everywhere. Just like these.
Lace-up boots in all length and heel heights are in and then they aren’t. This style has always worked for me and while some years they have disappeared from my wardrobe, they are never forgotten. This year I can see the lace-up “combat” boot is high on the fashionista’s list of must-haves. I annoy myself when I say – nothing new and all that – but in the case of the lace-up boot, it is true. This boot has been around forever and rightly so.
In our fashion world, it is how we wear it that counts.
I’m never going to embrace a style exactly as it appears on the catwalk. I might not like the presentation and I would most likely look ridiculous. I won’t be wearing a lace-up boot with tractor tracks unless I am in the snow and mine won’t have heels. They are flat and a fine version to give me the look but in a way to suit me.
Fashion is about interpretation and the lace-up boot is an easy one to get right.
