Serenity from the city was the main objective in creating this unique home in Jakarta, Indonesia, designed by Eben Architects. The 550 square metre home is an open and relaxing environment, which combines with two courtyards to establish a tranquil connect with nature. These flowing living spaces give the homeowner an enriching contrast between life at home and their intense work life in the noisy, dense capital region. Slatted timber screens protectively encase the exterior of the house to provide shade and light play inside, plus privacy from the street. At night, the timber screened home becomes a mysterious lantern in contemporary linear form.
Great white sails divide the second story of the modern exterior, providing seclusion from the immediate neighbours and shielding from the street.
Wood slatted volumes filter the sun during hot daylight hours, then stack enchanting lanterns by nightfall.
The series of wooden screens build privacy across the home, allowing the homeowner to freely open windows without the wandering eye ...
