A weekend in the country means a wardrobe shift"
Except it doesn’t, anymore.
Fashion, like a tumble drier, is whirling and twirling and turning everything upside down. Fairisle and cable knits are showing as high fashion – worn with not only the jeans and sweats but also with the best of the best.
Anything can be worn together if we have the style and confidence to choose wisely. Unusual combinations can be the most natural reconciliations of all but if done half-heartedly or without care, a wardrobe disaster.
Take Fair Isle or the cable knit style of sweater.
It requires a few simple decisions.
Do you prefer a sweater or a cardigan" Button-ups can act as jackets and make brilliant, layered pieces. I have always loved a cardigan beneath a puffer or overcoat.
** This puffer, mine arrived and it’s fabulous, is a super bargain. It’s over-sized so to avoid bulk, go one size down.
How heavy should the knit be" Thinking lifestyle and comfort here.
Colourful or a simpler pattern like a black and white"
How much pattern" Maybe the sleeves are enough; a taste of the ornate can be enough for some.
I’m thinking my Fairisle sweater will travel from London to the countryside very happily. xv
What’s New"
This week’s Fairisle EDIT is up now.
