There are a few items; tees, trainers, turtle necks – all things I reach for often and most of the time, don’t give a lot of thought. They’re not necessarily forgotten but more, unappreciated.
Camisoles, especially the shapewear style, are one of them; a basic I wear that allows me to make the most out of my wardrobe. Some shirts can be just a little too sheer, show a little too much and a cami style vest works wonderfully underneath without creating a larger silhouette.
They’re inclusive, working well with every body shape, smoothing and slimming to create a blank canvas for dressing our tops. Updating yearly will allow camis to be their best self, providing a streamlined look, wear after wear.
The Cami Rules
Go for a nude or a similar colour to the top. Opposing colours will make a cami’s place irrelevant.
Go true to size – avoid sizing up for unwanted excess fabric, and avoid sizing down to allow the cami to have a smooth finish.
Avoid straps with extenders, these will only be uncomfortable and be noticeable under layers.
Refresh every one to two years to keep them doing their best; stretchy fabrics lose their puff over time and become less streamlined.
