3D printing house VOJD Studios sent their latest work down the runway with Swiss fashion brand Akris, showing their architectural 3D printed rings during Paris Fashion Week. The silver and polyamide pieces were designed by Akris Creative Director Albert Kriemler who took inspiration from Sou Fujimoto’s Naoshima Pavilion, a polyhedron geometric structure. The collaboration takes the 3D printing industry to new realms displaying that technology can be used in the high-end fashion industry. This show was the first time Akris has used 3D printing technology selective laser sintering to make ready-to-wear pieces. The technology allows designers to develop small lines of products at lower costs with shorter lead times.
