In the magnificent setting of Lake Como, in an extremely characteristic small town, an old hotel had been converted into apartments.
Description
The ground floor and the mezzanine floor had been designed to become a restaurant, but the project had never been realized. The original state of the premises was unfinished, without systems with very thick walls and vaults in stone and brick, all of which gave the rooms a splendid atmosphere. The clients, in love with the place and the potential enclosed in those walls, immediately asked that it be kept as much of those pre-existences as possible, however much they wanted a house full of comfort. The challenge was immediately accepted with great enthusiasm, thus creating a splendid home. The house is divided into two floors, connected by an internal staircase, on the upper floor the entrance opens onto the large kitchen which is deliberately left clean and linear, to underline the importance of the stone wall. This overlooks the living room and the master bedroom with attached bathroom that look directly onto the lake. From the kitchen you continue towards the dining room, a truly unique environment because it is enclosed between stone walls and a large vaulted brick ceiling, which surmounts the space by wrapping it. A guest bedroom with its internal bathroom concludes the first floor.
