Vertical Aquaponic System and a Garden in Plastic Cups
Vertical aquaponic is something that makes many peple happy even if they do not have yards to grow plants. The term refers to any system that combines conventional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as snails, fish, crayfish or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. Excretions from the animals in this system are being raised in a way to accumulate in the water, increasing toxicity. In the system, water from an aquaculture system is fed to a hydroponic system. The by-products there are broken down by nitrifying bacteria initially into nitrites and subsequently into nitrates. These are utilized by the plants as nutrients, and the water is then recirculated back to the aquaculture system. Vertical Aquaponic System in the Garage
