Jason DeCaires Taylor Creates An Underwater Museum
With his massive new project, sculptor, environmentalist and underwater photographer Jason deCaires Taylor is deploying a marine museum (the MOUA) at the bottom of the ocean, in a handful of places around the world. With its 4 projects, it showcases the artistic creation of young talents. Among them, the ?Coral Greenhouse? is perched in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. Visitors are invited to snorkel trips to discover it more than 60 feet under the sea. ?When we talk about reefs, we?re very much talking about what we?re leaving for younger generations,? explained Taylor. ?I also wanted to encourage more youth into marine science and into exploring and understanding the underwater world. Plus, I wanted the local communities ? school students, especially ? to become ambassadors for the reef, almost like guardians with a keen interest in how it evolves.?
