Innovative Artist’s House & Sudio in Ghana
Artist Amoako Boafo asked the studio Tzou Lubroth Architekten to design a hybrid building topology that combines a house, a painter’s studio, a gallery and installations for three artists in residence in Ghana. The project was motivated by Baofo’s desire to return to his home village, Accra, with the mission of bringing new energy to the city’s art scene.
The house consists of two volumes that interact through slight changes in geometry. The artist’s house and studio occupy one volume while the residences, dining rooms and public gallery occupy the other. By hybridizing public and private spaces, the house was to become something new, something more than just a dwelling.
