Free Solar Water Heater Build of PET Bottles
Eight years ago, José Alano, a retired Brazilian mechanic, was inspired to pick up plastic bottles (PET) and already used milk cartons to develop a simple, inexpensive solar water heating system that anyone could build. The Ecologist devotes a great time to his project and now he is sharing it with all of us.
He saw that in his small town of Tubarão there was no infrastructure to recycle the containers and he was feeling unable to throw all those containers in the trash. So, Alano and his wife soon had a room full of empty bottles and milk cartons. Using his ingenuity and experience with solar collectors, he and his wife built an alternative version using 100 PET bottles and 100 used milk cartons. The prototype worked perfectly, while giving a new life to all those wastes in a responsible way.
