Footing Design is What Makes the Building Strong and Firm
Footing or foundation, are usually made of reinforced concrete. They transmit loads from a structure to the supporting soil. The design of the footing is based on the nature of the loading, the properties of the footing and the properties of the soil. Typically the footing design is made by the following steps:Â
1. Determination of the requirements for the footing, including the loading and the nature of the supported structure. 2. Select options for the footing and determine the necessary soils parameters. Consult a Geotechnical Engineer for this procedure.
3. The geometry of the foundation is selected so that any minimum requirements based on soils parameters are met.
