Description
Reform of a house for a couple in the Gracia district of Barcelona.
The floor plan solution is elementary and clear. The hallway is eliminated and the living room is enlarged, incorporating an adjoining room. Natural light is brought into all the spaces, including the bathroom, which is not considered a secondary space but a wellness area that must be designed with the utmost detail.
The exposed wooden beams are recovered but not indiscriminately throughout the house, only trimming the white plane of the ceiling in the spaces where the ceiling has greater prominence (over the bed and in the living area). A new natural wood flooring, wide plank and with knots, glued on the support, is installed. In the kitchen and bathroom, a small-piece stoneware floor in hexagonal and trapezoidal format is installed.
The original balcony windows of the main façade were recovered, stripping them and installing insulating glass. The aluminum windows of the rear facade are replaced by wooden ones, like the ones that should have existed originally.
The fixed furniture is made to measure with light birch plywood. Both the kitchen furniture, as well as the bathroom furniture and the bedroom headboard.
In the bathroom, small tiles of intense color are used in two of the walls, which stand out against the rest of the walls completely in white. An adjoining ma...
