Design Based Types Of Dams in the World



Depending on the design a dame can take, we can classify several types of dams: gravity dams, earth dams, rockfill dams, arch dams, buttress dams. They all can be more clearly understand trough the examples: Examples of Gravity dam are Grand Coulee Dam (USA), ( Nagarjuna Sagar Dam (India) and Itaipu Dam ( Between Brazil and Paraguay). Examples of earthfill dam: Rongunsky dam (Russia) and New Cornelia Dam (USA).   
Examples of rockfill dam: Mica Dam (Canada) and Chicoasen Dam (Mexico).Examples of Arch dam: Hoover Dam (USA) and Idukki Dam (India).
