Casa Z is a two-story house located on one of the highest hills in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Designed by Zozaya Arquitectos in 2018, it is a minimalist concrete house with large, rich social spaces, perfect for enjoying the beautiful panoramic views and the climate of the region. Its infinity pool reflects the ocean and creates a sensation of flow, and its use of essential materials such as concrete, steel, local limestone and bamboo perfectly blends modern and tropical styles.

Casa Z: A Minimalist Home with Rich Social Spaces
Casa Z stands tall on one of the highest hills in Zihuatanejo, situated on a 500 m2 (5381 ft2) trapezoidal land. The rugged terrain of the land offers an irregular surface, with the main access located at the top. The primary concept of the project was to create a minimalist house with social spaces where users can take in the breathtaking views and the region’s climate. The central volume of the house consists of two juxtaposed rectangular volumes with walls that are 25 cm thick. The upper rectangular volume serves as the master bedroom, framing the view and creating the sensation of floating in the air due to the altitude. The facade of the street is designed with a double skin of vertical bamboo, providing privacy and solar protection to the room.
