To transform a 450 square meter space into a temple of meditation and yoga, the Thai architecture studio Enter Projects Asia built an undulating rattan structure. Harvested from the palm trees of Southeast Asia, this natural material lines the walls and surrounds the overhead lighting, until it touches the ground, forming a long bench. This installation allows the creation of a serene and luminous area drawn from the yoga positions. Thai wood supports the load of the structure, while rattan separates two large studios and two smaller private rooms. The sanctuaries were designed for the retreats of the Vikasa yoga brand. “All elements of the project were made from natural and local materials to support the economy of the region: Thai hardwood, local black slate, bamboo and especially rattan” said Patrick Keane, CEO of the studio.
