A Beautiful Map to Explore Concrete Buildings in Tokyo
While concrete does not always have a good reputation, the author Naomi Pollock, a specialist in design and architecture, has decided to celebrate it. She collaborated with photographer Jimmy Cohrssen to design a map of Tokyo that lists fifty buildings in the Japanese capital, built from this material unfairly reduced in the collective imagination to sinister or soulless structures. This bilingual guide in Japanese and English published by Blue Crow Media retraces a century of history of Tokyo architecture through the unique vision of creators such as Tadao Ando, Le Corbusier and Antonin Raymond.
